Vonnie was born in Portland, OR, and graduated from Lake Oswego High School in 1972. She attended nursing school in California. Vonnie met her husband Charles “Wesley” Kight in the dining hall of Casa Grande apartments in April of 2016 during the week she had moved in. Wesley approached her and invited her over to watch movies because he has a huge collection of classic titles. From that point on, Vonnie would go over to Wesley’s every day to spend time with him watching movies. Wesley fell in love with her and said it was love at first sight. He wanted to do the right thing, so he wasted no time in proposing to Vonnie and marrying her a month later on Memorial Day, May 30, 2016.
Her parents, Orville Elton Rowland, Jr. and Evelyn Florence Brumm, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn: Her Husband, Wesley; Son, Stevan Nikolic (Amanda Sue Grossman) of Reno, NV; Brother, Douglas C. Rowland (Susan Rowland) of Tualatin, OR; Stepdad, Donald Headrick of Lake Oswego, OR; and Jacquie Trent who she called “her angel” because Jacquie took care of her for the last year and a half.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Riverside National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
