Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved Ones

Edward James Bates

Age 67, of Yucca Valley, Entered Into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born on May 14, 1950, in Oakland, California, he was the beloved son of Paul and Estelle Bates. Edward, or “Bull” as he was affectionately known, entered the USMC and proudly served his Country during Vietnam. It was during this time that he earned not one, but two Purple Hearts. Bull retired a decorated war hero and was rewarded by marrying his soulmate, Dena, and together they created a beautiful life together. Sadly, Dena will continue to carry on his legacy as she awaits the day to be reunited with him once again in Heaven. Bull will be forever missed and honored for who he was and what he stood for.Edward BatesEdward BatesEdward Bates Shelter services with Full Military Honors will begin at 12:30PM on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Riverside National Cemetery. 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside, CA

In the late 80’s, I played pro footballball in Europe, in the off seasons I would work at the Palace Event and concert hall accross the street from Capital records in Hollywood California. I worked back stage with Bull. He taught me security in the music industry. I know what he stood for. Through the years he never changed. I am honored to know him. If we speak of him, then he is. Thank you Bull. Mark

I haven’t spoken with my father in over 10 years following a series of bad conversations that I had with him. Weeks led to months and months led to years of silence. I learned of his passing through an internet search. His wife and her side of the family made no attempts to contact me during his final days. I am a State Parole Agent so I am incredibly easy to locate which troubles me the most. My father and I were very close and we had a bond that nobody could break. Rest In Peace and I’m sure we will have that last conversation on the other side one day.
