Alexander Tscherneff was born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria and received his Engineering Degree in Mining there. He went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering in Berlin, Germany. It was here he was caught up in the drama of World War II. It was also here where he met Margot who became his beautiful wife and the mother of his 4 children. Alex, Margot and their first son traveled to Australia in 1949 through a United Nation’s program set up to help refugees of World War II. In 1957 they immigrated to the United States. They landed in San Francisco and traversed the country to Harrisburg, PA where Alex became a Bridge Engineer for PennDOT. He stayed there until his retirement. He leaves a legacy of bridges throughout the state that bear his work. Alex joins his beloved wife, parents and sisters in the afterworld. He leaves behind two sons: D. Bernd and Peter; two daughters: Karin and Ingrid and their husbands Stan and Terry; seven grandchildren: Nicole, Alex, Courtney, Katelyn, Karina, Nikolas and Marie; and one great grandson: Dominic.
Memorial Services for Alexander will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016.
